compressor

How common is it to bring a good-sized compressor with? On our old Class-C, the valve extenders for the TPMS would sometimes leak, and I found it invaluable to have a compressor with me. I'm counting on the Borg valve extenders on our soon-to-be-ours 20D to be more reliable, and I'd love to dump the extra weight. But I can't estimate the risk of not having a compressor with. (I also found that you can't just pull into any old service station and fill up the RV tires, since most "car" compressors don't have high enough pressure, making it necessary to find a truck stop if you don't carry your own.) Thanks, |

I bought this tire inflator and jump starter as reviewed favorably by Scotty Kilmer on YouTube:

Otherwise, I go to Discount Tire every 2 months for air. Thanks, Tom 07 J (previous 8 year owner) Gila Bend, AZ |

I wouldn't be without a compressor; it's relatively cheap insurance. I don't care what it weighs.

It's very easy. ViAir make one for about 3-4 hundred that will pump up to 150psi. I use it with my 24D. Good luck. They make one for RV's.

Never travel without a compact 120V 1.5 gallon / 175 max psi compressor. That said, I haven't needed it for my tires since I got rid of anything resembling a valve extension. Karl & Suzanne 2018 View 24D Southeast MI On Sat, Mar 4, 2023, 16:22 <dthomson@...> wrote:

I second Bruce’s comments! Wouldn’t go anywhere without my Viair pump. Have been using it for 6 years.

I have the VIAIR. I also have TST 507 So each morning before I start out and get the TST on and check the PSI. I've used the compressor several times over the years.

Many people have opted for Battery powered compressors; I don’t have faith in them. They say they are rated for 100 PSI, but how long will it take to get your tire filled. I got a VIAIR 400P – 40045 and use it all the time. I even used to blow out the water lines to winterize the unit coming back from AZ this year.

I have always had a compressor that can fill RV tires. In the last ten years that I have had the motorhome, I used it maybe 4 times. That said, I wouldn't be without it. 2011 K, Lisa Harris Tallahassee FL On Sat, Mar 4, 2023 at 4:22 PM <dthomson@...> wrote:

I have a 12 V compressor and it takes about 5 minutes to pump from 15 to 65 psi. Good enough for me and it almost fits in my glove box. I got Borg valve stems too so don't need it much anymore.

This takes 1-2 minutes going from perhaps 50 to 70 PSI. I absolutely love it. Attaches to 12V in the battery bay and reaches under width of body to reach tires on the other side of the coach,on front/back as well as same side of coach.. Been through the cheap ones, they're all in the garbage over the years.

I stayed in Las Cruces, arcoss from a Walmart, and woke up this morning with the right side dually TPMS on the Crossfire equalizer down to 30psi.. I have a DEWALT 20V MAX Tire Inflator, DCC020IB, that uses the same battery as the drill/impact set.. it can also run from a 12v outlet... I hooked it up and walked across the street to get a donut, and it had brought the set of duals up to 61psi when I returned, about 10minutes.. I like this unit because I can set the pressure and do other things..
just my opinion... John W 08NiQ Albuq., NM |

I purchased a 120 volt diaphragm compressor, removed the big tank and replaced the tank with a one-cubic inch tank that I made. I added a short hose with a tire attachment. It works great filling RV tires. It goes up to 120 psi. My compressor is about the size of a thermos bottle but shorter. 12 volt compressors don’t make sense because they don’t have the wattage to do the job. If we are not plugged in, I start the generator. It’s best to check tires first thing in the morning.

I mounted a Via air compressor, with a pressure switch, 2 regulators and a 2.5 gallon tank, under the hood in the space where a second battery would go. ( vancompass.com makes mounts specifically for this ).
